Enjoy the Taste of Spring!

Did you know?

Eating what is in season is a great way to improve your diet. When vegetables and fruit are eaten at their peak, they contain more vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients than when they are harvested before they are ripe and shipped long distances. Other benefits of eating seasonally are saving money, supporting local farmers, adding variety to your diet and enjoying delicious flavours.

Three spring foods to try:

Asparagus: Grill asparagus and drizzle with olive oil and balsamic vinegar or add it to stir-fries.

Spinach: Serve spinach fresh in salads or toss a handful into soups, omelettes or tomato sauce.

Rhubarb: Add rhubarb to whole grain muffins or make it into chutney and pair with roasted meats.
