School Zone Speed Limit to be Enforced

Two months have passed since the City of Edmonton and the Edmonton Police Service (EPS) announced 30 kilometre per hour speed limits around elementary schools. Since the 30 km/h school zones were introduced, 5,480 warnings have been issued to drivers who exceeded the school zone speed limits.

The education period for drivers to learn about the new speed limits is now over. Effective immediately, EPS will be working with the Office of Traffic Safety to enforce the school zone speed limits with all tactics including manned enforcement and photo radar.
